A musical story.

Mihael Hrustelj

Mihael Hrustelj is a Slovenian guitarist, singer and composer whose music brings together classical virtuosity, Slovenian folk tradition, original composition and improvisation.

In his solo performances, Hrustelj creates the sound and energy of an entire ensemble through classical guitar, voice, bass drum and percussive guitar techniques. His concert program If Forests Could Sing moves between intimate folk song, rhythmic original music and striking interpretations of classical works.

A graduate of Codarts Conservatory in Rotterdam, Hrustelj has released nine albums and performed across Europe and East Asia. His artistic work includes collaborations with Vlado Kreslin and Brothers Teofilović, original repertoire for guitar and big band, interdisciplinary projects, and a nationally broadcast performance with the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra.

After ten years in the Netherlands, he returned to Slovenia and established his studio among the forests and mountains of the country’s northern region. This landscape—and Slovenia’s musical heritage—has become an important source for his compositions and artistic identity.

His work has been presented internationally and supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia. Alongside his solo concert activity, he continues to develop music for big band, choirs, interdisciplinary productions and future orchestral collaborations.

Mihael Hrustelj is currently available for solo concerts, festivals and artistic collaborations in Europe in 2026–27.

GLASBENA ZGODBA

Mihael Hrustelj

Mihael Hrustelj je slovenski kitarist, pevec in skladatelj, čigar glasba združuje klasično virtuoznost, slovensko ljudsko izročilo, avtorsko ustvarjanje in improvizacijo.

Na solo nastopih s klasično kitaro, glasom, basovskim bobnom in perkusivnimi tehnikami na kitari ustvarja zvok in energijo celotne zasedbe. Njegov koncertni program If Forests Could Sing / Ko bi gozdovi peli prehaja med intimno ljudsko pesmijo, ritmično avtorsko glasbo in izrazitimi priredbami klasičnih del.

Ta pokrajina in slovenska glasbena dediščina sta postali pomemben vir njegovega skladateljskega ustvarjanja in umetniške identitete.

Njegovo delo je bilo predstavljeno v mednarodnem prostoru in podprto s strani Ministrstva za kulturo Republike Slovenije. Poleg solo koncertnega ustvarjanja razvija glasbo za big band, pevske zbore, interdisciplinarne produkcije in prihodnja orkestrska sodelovanja.

Mihael Hrustelj v sezonah 2026–27 sprejema povabila za solo koncerte, festivale in umetniška sodelovanja v Sloveniji in drugod po Evropi.
